CUEPACS Sedia Bantu Touches Down In Seremban
To enhance the financial well-being of Malaysian civil servants, Xanderia, in collaboration with the Congress of Employees’ Unions in Public Services and Civil Services (CUEPACS), has extended its promotional efforts to Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. The focal point of their campaign at the Perhimpunan Perkhidmatan Awam 2024 roadshow is the CUEPACS Sedia Bantu program, designed to assist civil servants in navigating financial challenges through enhanced financial literacy and restructuring of their personal finances. This concerted effort underscores the shared commitment of Xanderia and CUEPACS towards fostering nationwide financial health restoration focusing on the civil servants.
During the event, CUEPACS underscored the significance of the proposed Employee Provident Fund (EPF) contribution scheme, advocating for adequate contributions, not falling below 26% of the basic salary, particularly for new civil servants with permanent or retired status. Dato’ Dr Adnan Mat, President of CUEPACS, expressed optimism that the three key agencies – EPF, Kumpulan Wang Amanah Pencen (KWAP), and Social Security Organization (PERKESO) – would propose more favourable terms for this scheme. He emphasized that the proposed adjustments aim not to abolish, but to enhance the pension scheme.
Dato’ Dr Adnan also emphasized the importance of disseminating accurate information and ensuring civil servants are well-informed about any changes to the pension scheme to avoid confusion. He urged civil servants to exercise discernment and not be swayed by misinformation circulating online or through digital platforms.
Looking ahead, Dato’ Dr Adnan expressed hope that the government would consider providing special financial assistance before Aidilfitri celebration for all civil servants and government retirees, aimed at alleviating the financial burdens associated with festival preparations. While CUEPACS acknowledges there is no urgency, initiatives such as offering RM500 for active employees and RM250 for retirees can be viewed as commendable efforts to continue. The strides taken through the financial well-being program are anticipated to yield positive outcomes by enhancing financial literacy and the overall well-being of civil servants population across Malaysia.
